Meta Discontinues Quest Pro Headset
The Meta Quest Pro headset is no longer in stock. As reported by RoadtoVR, the product's webpage now displays a message stating that the Meta Quest Pro is unavailable, and instead, customers are invited to explore the Meta Quest 3 for a superior mixed reality experience and premium comfort. Initially released in October 2022 with a price tag of $1,500, the Quest Pro was targeted at power users and VR professionals, featuring 256 GB of storage, lighter optical lenses, and higher-resolution screens compared to the Meta Quest 2. The device also boasted facial and eye tracking capabilities, designed to enhance social presence in apps by mirroring users' expressions through their avatars. However, the headset failed to gain significant traction, leading Meta to announce its discontinuation in September, alongside the Quest 2 and the 128GB version of the Quest 3. Following the launch of the Meta Quest 3 in October, Meta published its third-quarter earnings, revealing a substantial loss of $4.4 billion in its Reality Labs division, marking the third consecutive quarterly loss for the segment.
