Nintendo of America's Don James to Receive AIAS Lifetime Achievement Award

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has revealed that Don James, a longtime Nintendo of America executive, will be the recipient of the AIAS Lifetime Achievement Award. According to VGC, James will accept the honor at the 28th annual DICE Awards on February 13, 2025. With a career spanning four decades, James joined Nintendo of America in 1981 as executive vice president of operations and retired in August 2024. He played a significant role in establishing the Entertainment Software Rating Board and was involved in the formation of the Interactive Digital Software Association, now known as the Entertainment Software Association. AIAS president Meggan Scavio praised James, saying, "Don's dedication to the games industry has been instrumental in driving meaningful initiatives, and we are delighted to recognize his remarkable legacy and contributions to the world of video games." James expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am deeply humbled to receive this award from the Academy, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside so many talented individuals in the industry. My career has been an incredible journey, and I am proud of the experiences I've had."
