Hothead Games Ceases Operations

Vancouver-based game development studio Hothead Games has officially ceased operations. The news was announced by CEO and President Ian Wilkinson on LinkedIn, stating that the studio shut down on December 13 after filing for bankruptcy. According to Wilkinson, the studio had a promising AAA game project in development, with plans to release mobile and console/PC versions with different publishers. However, the process of securing contracts took longer than anticipated. Despite being close to finalizing deals, the mobile publisher backed out due to a strategic shift, and two weeks later, the console publisher also withdrew. With no remaining options, the studio was forced to file for bankruptcy. Wilkinson expressed hope that this may not be the end for the team, stating their desire to reunite and continue creating exceptional games in the future. Founded in 2006 by former Radical Entertainment employees, Hothead Games was known for developing and publishing PC, console, and mobile titles, including premium and free-to-play games.
