Moon Beast Productions Raises $4.5 Million in Seed Funding
Moon Beast Productions has successfully raised $4.5 million in seed funding. The independent game development studio, co-founded by Phil Shenk, Peter Hu, and Erich Schaefer, received support from a group of prominent angel investors, including Gaingels, Cohh Carnage, and Mark Pincus, with 1AM Gaming leading the round. Other investors, such as 1UP Ventures, The Mini Fund, Overwolf, and Versus Ventures, also participated. This funding round represents a crucial step for the studio, allowing it to expand its operations while maintaining its lean and focused approach. The investment will also facilitate the development of an innovative action RPG that breaks away from traditional design conventions. According to Peter Hu, the studio's president and co-founder, 'We are extremely fortunate to have investors who share our vision, especially in today's challenging funding landscape. Our philosophy has always been about working efficiently and intelligently, rather than just exerting more effort. We are developing adaptable, data-driven systems that enable rapid iteration and more efficient creation.' Phil Shenk, CEO and co-founder, added, 'We have never been satisfied with following the status quo. Throughout our careers, we have consistently pushed the boundaries of genres, from our early work on Diablo and Diablo II to later projects like Hellgate: London, Torchlight, and Marvel Heroes Online. We have always sought to redefine player expectations and expand the possibilities of the genre.' Moon Beast plans to unveil more details about its upcoming project in early 2025.
