The Game Awards Sees 31% Increase in Live-Stream Viewership

According to the latest figures, The Game Awards 2024 garnered approximately 154 million global live streams, marking a significant 31% increase from the 118 million live streams recorded in 2023. This data encompasses viewership across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Instagram Live, and Facebook. Notably, the event attracted over four million peak concurrent viewers on Western platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, representing a 10% rise from the previous year. Furthermore, the 4K feed on YouTube witnessed a substantial 35% surge in peak concurrent users, with 1.3 million viewers tuning in. When co-streams are factored in, YouTube viewership experienced a 28% boost to 2.17 million. These impressive statistics follow a successful tenth-anniversary celebration for The Game Awards, which featured the unveiling of several highly anticipated titles, including The Witcher 4, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Elden Ring: Nightreign, Split Fiction, and Sonic Racing Crossworlds. The event also saw the revival of classic franchises such as Onimusha, Virtua Fighter, Okami, and Turok. Team Asobi's Astro Bot emerged as the biggest winner, claiming four awards, including the coveted Game of the Year Award. Other notable winners included Balatro, Metaphor: ReFantazi, Black Myth: Wukong, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2.
