Alleged 'Network of Unlawful Gambling Sites' Allows Minors to Wager Using Roblox Account Credentials

According to an investigation, a purported 'network of unlawful casinos' enables children to engage in gambling activities using their Roblox account details. The probe, conducted by Sky News, reveals that minors as young as 12 years old have been accessing these unlicensed sites, which operate outside of Roblox's ecosystem, to gamble using their Roblox login credentials and virtual currency, known as Robux. Notably, some of these casinos, including BloxFlip, RBLXWild, and Bloxmoon, have allegedly accumulated substantial revenue, with Bloxmoon reportedly generating $11.4 million since its inception in late 2022. Although some of these sites may request users to provide their date of birth or confirm they are over 18, they reportedly fail to verify the users' age. One individual, who began gambling at the age of 14, claimed to have lost approximately 15 million Robux, equivalent to around $190,700. In response to the investigation, the CEO of the Gambling Commission, Andrew Rhodes, emphasized that illegal casino operators are 'criminals' who are 'part of the criminal underworld,' and it is crucial for everyone to play a role in thwarting their activities. Following the investigation, some of the implicated sites, including BloxFlip, have gone offline, while others have ceased operations or relocated to different URLs. Roblox has stated that it does not condone or operate these websites and has taken measures to disrupt their activities, which violate its Terms of Use.
