Flashbulb Games Restructures After Unannounced Project Halt

Danish game development studio Flashbulb Games has reduced its workforce by seven employees. The decision to downsize was made after the studio cancelled an unannounced project. However, the majority of the team has been redeployed to work on Trailmakers, the company's core game. According to CEO Christopher Håkonsson, "Although this was a difficult choice, we have reassigned most of the team to Trailmakers, which we consider our leading game." He expressed enthusiasm for Trailmakers, stating, "We believe Trailmakers has tremendous potential, and we are eager to expedite its development to provide more value to our players and community." Flashbulb Games was founded in 2016 by veterans from Rare, CCP, and IO Interactive. This move comes on the heels of significant layoffs in the gaming industry, including nearly 100 job cuts at Warner Games Montreal and over 14,600 positions eliminated across the sector in 2024.
