The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has unveiled the inaugural class of its Supernova incubation initiative, selecting a total of fifteen game studios from an applicant pool that exceeded 260 submissions. This marks a significant milestone for the Indian gaming ecosystem, as the association seeks to nurture home‑grown talent and accelerate the growth of emerging developers.

The Supernova program, which officially launched in July 2026, is designed as a three‑month intensive that pairs each chosen studio with seasoned mentors, provides valuable industry credits, and facilitates introductions to potential investors and publishing partners. At the conclusion of the incubation period, the cohort will have the chance to showcase its projects at a dedicated Demo Day that will be held during the upcoming India Game Developers Conference (IGDC), offering a high‑visibility platform to attract further funding and publishing deals. A number of prominent industry players have joined forces with GDAI to make the program possible. Tencent, the global gaming powerhouse, will contribute its expertise and network; IVIPRO and SpielFabrique will supply technical support and development tools; Mintegral and Lakshya Digital will assist with user acquisition and monetisation strategies.

In particular, Indus Appstore has committed to offering participating studios "priority onboarding and ad credits to kick‑start user acquisition," ensuring that developers can quickly reach a broad audience and begin generating revenue streams. "The selection of this inaugural cohort marks the beginning of a focused journey for these 15 studios," said Rajan Navani, board member and chairperson of GDAI's Incubation Sub‑committee. "Over the next three months, Supernova will bring together mentors, technology partners, publishers and investors to help each studio address its specific development and business priorities." Navani emphasised that the program is not a one‑size‑fits‑all solution; instead, each studio will receive a customised roadmap that aligns with its unique creative vision and commercial goals. The fifteen studios that earned a place in the program are: 1.

Absurd Games 2. Team Quasar 3. AbhiTech Games 4. Konkan Coast Studios 5.

Dunali Games 6. Chitrakala Interactive 7.

Ashdev Studios 8. Compiling Shaders 9. Brahman Studios 10. Yaari Games 11.

Funwave Studio 12. Arcadon Games 13.

Shivaansh Artvision 14. AnonVision Creative Labs 15. Parkince These studios represent a diverse cross‑section of the Indian gaming landscape, ranging from small indie teams focused on narrative‑driven experiences to more technically ambitious groups developing multiplayer and AR/VR titles. By bringing them together under the Supernova umbrella, GDAI aims to foster collaboration, knowledge‑sharing, and healthy competition that will raise the overall quality of games produced in the region.

Beyond the immediate benefits of mentorship and financial incentives, the Supernova cohort will also gain access to GDAI's broader network of over 200 member studios. This community offers opportunities for joint ventures, talent exchanges, and shared marketing initiatives, which can be especially valuable for studios that lack extensive in‑house resources. GDAI's long‑term vision includes positioning India as a hub for both game development talent and innovative gaming technology, and the Supernova program is a key pillar of that strategy. In addition to the hands‑on support for the selected studios, GDAI continues its wider mission of talent development, global outreach, and policy advocacy.

The association has already launched several educational programmes aimed at students and aspiring developers, and it plans to reach more than 25,000 learners across the country in the coming years. By combining grassroots education with high‑level incubation, GDAI hopes to create a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute to the growth of the domestic industry and compete on the international stage. The upcoming Demo Day at IGDC will serve as the culminating event for the Supernova cohort. Each studio will present a polished demo or prototype, receive feedback from a panel of industry veterans, and potentially secure publishing contracts or seed funding.

This public showcase not only provides exposure for the developers but also signals to the broader market that Indian game studios are ready to deliver world‑class experiences. Overall, the launch of Supernova represents a concerted effort by GDAI and its partners to accelerate the maturation of India's gaming sector. By offering a structured, resource‑rich environment for early‑stage studios, the program seeks to reduce the time and risk associated with bringing a game from concept to market. With the backing of global giants like Tencent and the localized expertise of partners such as Indus Appstore, the fifteen selected studios are well‑positioned to make a significant impact both domestically and abroad.

As the three‑month incubation period unfolds, stakeholders will closely monitor the progress of each studio, gathering data on development milestones, user acquisition metrics, and funding outcomes. The insights gained will inform future iterations of the Supernova program, ensuring that GDAI can continuously refine its support mechanisms and expand its reach to even more creators in the years ahead.
