Reforged Studios Expands with Acquisition of Yellow Lab Games

In a strategic move, Reforged Studios has acquired Yellow Lab Games, a prominent game development studio based in South Africa. Although the details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, it has been announced that Yellow Lab will continue to operate as an independent entity, focusing on its own intellectual properties while also contributing to Reforged Studios' projects. Currently, Yellow Lab is developing Metavoidal, a heavy metal-inspired roguelite RPG that has garnered attention since its alpha release on Itch.io and is slated for a full launch on Steam in Q1 2025. This acquisition marks Reforged's third major investment this year, following the acquisition of Ground Shatter and Extra Mile Studios in August. Reforged CEO and founder Peter Van Der Watt expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, citing his long-standing admiration for South Africa's game development talent and his confidence in Yellow Lab's potential.
