Riot Games Introduces Penalties for Misconduct Beyond Its Platforms

Riot Games has unveiled updates to its terms of service for content creators, introducing penalties for misconduct that occurs outside of its platforms. The new policy, outlined on the company's website, specifically targets content that features Riot games as the primary focus. This means that if a creator engages in unacceptable behavior, such as using hate speech, during a livestream or while creating content related to Riot games, they may still face penalties, even if the misconduct did not occur within the game itself via chat or voice communication. According to the policy, 'if you violate our terms of service while streaming or creating content about our games, we may restrict access to your Riot accounts and suspend your partner privileges if you are a part of our partner program.' Furthermore, Riot Games has announced that it will restrict access to a player's entire account for any violations of its service terms, effective January 3, 2025.
