Sony Developing New Portable PlayStation Console
According to recent reports, Sony is in the process of creating a portable console that is compatible with the PlayStation 5 ecosystem. Sources close to the matter, who spoke to Bloomberg, revealed that the device is still in the early stages of development and its launch is years away. It is also possible that Sony may choose not to release the console at all, given its current stage of development. The new handheld console is reportedly building upon the existing PS Portal technology, which was initially conceived as a standalone portable device rather than a streaming accessory requiring a PS5 connection. This news comes after Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that Microsoft is working on prototypes for handheld devices. In related news, Sony recently introduced cloud streaming support on the PS Portal for PlayStation Plus subscribers, allowing users to play games without the need for a PS5, although this feature is currently in beta and has limited availability. The PS Portal was launched a year ago and sold out within two days.
