Steam Introduces New Season Pass Guidelines

Valve has revamped its guidelines for season passes on Steam, introducing stricter rules regarding content release schedules. According to the updated guidelines on Steamworks, developers and publishers are required to provide a specific release date for season pass content. If a developer is unsure about the launch timing, they are advised against offering a season pass on the platform. Furthermore, each piece of content within a season pass must be accompanied by a detailed description. Developers can specify release schedules by quarter and year, season, or exact dates. In the event of a delay, the release date can be rescheduled once, provided the new date is no more than three months later than the original one. If a piece of content within a season pass is cancelled, customers are entitled to a refund for the value of that content. The same applies to DLC that is delayed by more than three months. Valve has warned that failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the removal of the season pass from sale, refunds for the affected content, or the option for customers to refund the entire season pass.
