Thought Pennies Reduces Workforce Due to Loss of Project Funding
Thought Pennies has been forced to downsize its team after its publisher altered its strategic priorities. In a LinkedIn statement, Chief Creator Officer Daniel Erickson explained that despite consistently meeting milestones and receiving positive feedback, the studio had to reduce its staff due to a project losing its funding. Over the past three years, Thought Pennies grew from a two-person team to nearly sixty talented professionals, but the publisher's change in direction has left a previous project without financial support. As a result, the studio had to decrease its size. Erickson expressed his appreciation for the affected team members, who were hand-picked for their skills and dedication, and hopes they will find new opportunities that align with their career aspirations. The exact number of employees impacted by the layoffs is unclear, but the company's LinkedIn profile indicates it currently employs between 11 and 50 people. This development is the latest in a series of industry-wide job cuts over the past eighteen months, with other recent examples including Madrid-based Tequila Works.
