Play Ventures Secures $140 Million for Its Third Gaming Fund
Play Ventures has successfully closed its third gaming fund, securing $140 million in investments. According to reports by GamesBeat, Play Ventures will maintain its focus on investing in early-stage gaming companies, with a particular emphasis on mobile free-to-play games, as well as infrastructure and AI-driven gaming tools in this funding round. Since the completion of its third funding round in June 2023, Play Ventures has made eight investments, including one in the AI startup Beyond. The company expects to invest in 20 to 25 companies worldwide, targeting pre-seed to series A funding rounds. "The mobile gaming sector is currently one of the most vibrant and rapidly evolving spaces, offering enormous, unexplored potential," stated Henric Suuronen, founding partner of Play Ventures. "With our third fund, we are committed to supporting a new generation of billion-dollar games and interactive experiences, empowered by the revolutionary capabilities of AI." This investment marks the largest to date for the VC fund, bringing Play Ventures' total investments to $315 million, following previous investments of $135 million in April 2021 and $40 million in August 2019.
