The iconic game Half-Life 2 has surpassed 60,000 concurrent players on Steam, coinciding with its 20th anniversary celebrations. Currently, the game's peak player count stands at 64,085, marking the highest recorded figure since Steam DB began tracking player statistics in 2008. This surpasses the previous record of 16,101 concurrent players set in August 2021. The surge in player numbers follows a surprise update that integrated the base game with its episodic sequels, added Steam Workshop support, and included in-game commentary. Additionally, a two-hour documentary was released to commemorate the anniversary, highlighting the game's enduring influence. For a limited time, Valve is offering Half-Life 2 for free on Steam.
