Cancellation of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Film Project

The film adaptation of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell has officially been cancelled, as confirmed by one of the producers involved in the project. According to a report by The Direct, producer Basil Iwanyk stated that despite numerous attempts, the team was unable to get the script and budget right. Iwanyk expressed his disappointment, noting that the film had the potential to be exceptional but ultimately fell through. The project had been in development limbo since its announcement in 2012, with Tom Hardy initially set to star as Sam Fisher. In 2014, director Doug Liman was attached to the project, but no further updates were provided. Although the film adaptation will not move forward, an anime series based on the franchise is currently in production at Netflix, with a planned release in 2025. Additionally, a radio drama adaptation, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Firewall, was released on BBC Radio 4 in 2022.
