Embracer Sells Easybrain to Miniclip for $1.2 Billion
In a major development, Embracer has agreed to sell its mobile game development subsidiary Easybrain to Miniclip, a prominent digital entertainment company, in a deal worth approximately $1.2 billion. The transaction, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, will see Miniclip acquire full ownership of Easybrain. As part of the agreement, Embracer will receive the full payment in cash. This move was announced as part of Embracer's quarterly financial report, which also revealed a decline in sales across various segments. Embracer's CEO, Lars Wingefors, expressed his optimism about the deal, stating that it would significantly improve the company's financial standing and enable it to drive growth. Wingefors also acknowledged Easybrain's valuable contributions to Embracer over the past three years. Easybrain's CEO, Oleg Grushevich, appreciated the support provided by Embracer and expressed confidence that the partnership with Miniclip would bring new opportunities and strengths to the company. Easybrain was acquired by Embracer in 2021 for $765 million, and its owners became significant shareholders in the company. Recently, Embracer underwent a restructuring program, resulting in the separation into three distinct companies, the sale of Gearbox Entertainment and Saber Interactive, and the closure of several studios.
