ZeniMax Workers United-CWA Strike Over Return-to-Office Policies and Outsourcing Concerns

A strike is underway by hundreds of ZeniMax Studios employees, driven by disagreements over the company's policy on working from home and the outsourcing of quality assurance tasks. The Communication Workers of America recently filed a complaint against ZeniMax, accusing the company of unfairly outsourcing QA work without prior notification to the union. According to ZeniMax Workers United-CWA, this move jeopardizes job stability at a time when the video game industry is experiencing significant layoffs. Protests are scheduled to take place at various ZeniMax offices across the United States, including those in Maryland and Texas. This action follows a similar walkout by Activision QA staff in Minnesota last month, who protested against being required to return to the office. The ZeniMax Workers United-CWA, which became the first union at Microsoft's video game studio in January 2023, represents over 300 QA workers in Maryland and Texas.
