Super Mario Party Jamboree Tops Japan's Monthly Charts

Super Mario Party Jamboree claimed the top spot on Japan's October charts, shifting over 227,500 units in its first two weeks. According to Famitsu, this new release outperformed its predecessor, Mario Party Superstars, which sold 245,000 copies during the same period after its launch on October 29, 2021. The Top 10 was dominated by new titles and PS5 games, including the debut of Atlus' Metaphor: ReFantazio, which sold 133,000 copies across its PS5 and PS4 versions, securing the highest monthly sales for a new IP in 2024. Square Enix's Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven sold a combined 115,000 copies across Switch, PS5, and PS4, charting at No.6 on Switch and No.8 on PS5, with the PS4 version at No.20. In terms of publishers, Nintendo maintained its lead with a 35.9% market share worth ¥3.6 billion ($23.3 million). Atlus jumped to No.2 with a 13.2% share valued at ¥1.3 billion ($8.4 million) thanks to Metaphor: ReFantazio's successful launch. The Switch was the best-selling format in October, with 976,520 boxed games sold and a 64.4% market share. Nintendo also dominated the hardware charts, with 242,466 Switch units sold across its three models, followed by the PS5's combined sales of 47,615 units.
