Kadokawa Corporation, Parent Company of FromSoftware, Ventures into Console and PC Game Publishing

Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, is establishing a framework to broaden its in-house publishing capabilities for console and PC games. In its recent financial report, the company expressed its intention to boost the long-term value of titles such as Elden Ring through downloadable content and repeat sales. Although it is unclear whether this expansion will lead to the establishment of new in-house studios or acquisitions, the company did mention its February acquisition of Acquire Corp, the developer of Octopath Traveler, which will focus on developing console games. Additionally, Kadokawa Corporation is seeking to enhance its mobile gaming portfolio by acquiring new development studios to increase the number of titles and improve overall quality. The company's development pipeline is being expanded to achieve medium- to long-term growth. Furthermore, FromSoftware has announced an average basic salary increase of approximately 11.8% for its employees, effective April 2025.
