Tencent Announces Job Cuts at Sharkmob's London Office
Tencent has officially confirmed a workforce reduction at its Sharkmob London studio. Although the company did not provide specific details on the number of affected employees, it acknowledged that the decision was made due to challenging market conditions. According to a statement, Sharkmob has been affected like many other studios, leading to a headcount reduction in its London office. While reports suggest a significant portion of the team may have been let go, Tencent has not confirmed these claims. The company had previously entered a consultation period regarding potential job cuts and also canceled an unannounced game project. The London studio's layoffs do not affect Sharkmob's Malmö studio, which continues to focus on its upcoming title, Exoborne. The acquisition of Sharkmob by Tencent took place in 2019.
