Square Enix Shifts Focus Away from Exclusive Releases

Square Enix aims to increase simultaneous game launches across all platforms. In an interview with 4Gamer, as translated by Eurogamer, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida stated that the company is moving away from exclusive releases. Yoshida mentioned that the upcoming Fantasian Neo Dimension will debut on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on the same day, December 5, 2024. He expressed that while this is one of the first instances of simultaneous release, the company hopes Xbox users will also play the game. Historically, many Square Enix titles have been exclusive to PlayStation, leading to recent sales and identity issues for the Japanese company.
