New Leadership Announced for Wolverine and Perfect Dark Projects

Recent developments have led to changes in the leadership of two highly anticipated first-party games: Wolverine, a PlayStation project, and Perfect Dark, which is being developed by Xbox. According to information provided to Game File by Sony, Brian Horton is no longer serving as the creative director for Wolverine, with Marcus Smith stepping into the role. Smith brings a wealth of experience, having previously held the position of creative director for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, as well as game director for the latter. Horton, on the other hand, has made the move from PlayStation to Xbox, where he will be taking the reins as the creative director for The Initiative's Perfect Dark. His extensive experience is expected to be a significant asset in the development of the rebooted classic secret agent series. Horton had reportedly been detached from the Wolverine project since the summer, a role he had held since 2021. In related news, Cameron Christian, the game director for Wolverine, will be passing the torch to Mike Daly. Christian will remain with Insomniac, albeit in a different capacity. Daly boasts an impressive background, having worked as game director on Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, as well as lead designer on Miles Morales. The Wolverine game was first unveiled in 2021, and last year, it was one of several games affected by a breach at Insomniac, with leaked gameplay footage, level designs, plot details, and cast information making their way into the public domain. The Perfect Dark reboot, announced in 2020, had been in pre-production for three years, hindered by management issues and talent turnover, as disclosed by developers at The Initiative. This year, the title's first gameplay trailer was showcased during the Xbox Games Showcase.
