Unity Names Former King Executive Steve Collins as New Chief Technology Officer

Unity has made the announcement of Steve Collins as its newly appointed chief technology officer. Collins brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as CTO at King from February 2020 to March 2024, as well as holding positions at middleware developer Havok and mobile marketing platform Swrve. Additionally, Collins founded the computer graphics research group at Trinity College Dublin and initiated its MSc program in computer game technology. In a statement, Collins expressed his enthusiasm, saying: "Having followed Unity's journey for nearly two decades, I've witnessed the company's profound impact on the world of gaming and real-time 3D content development. I'm thrilled to join the talented team behind the Unity Engine and look forward to contributing to making Unity an even more supportive partner for its community." Unity's CEO and president, Matthew Bromberg, also commented: "Steve possesses deep technical expertise in gaming and marketing technology, and he has a clear understanding of the needs of developers. He will play a crucial role in driving innovation, quality, and stability for our customers as we move forward." Collins will be succeeding Marc Whitten, who resigned from his position earlier in the year without a given reason. Whitten was responsible for Unity's Create segment as chief product and technology officer, whereas Collins will assume the role of CTO across the entire organization.
