Oregon Trail Set to Hit the Big Screen

A film adaptation of The Oregon Trail is in the works, with Apple on board as the producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the action-comedy movie will be directed and produced by the acclaimed duo Will Speck and Josh Gordon, known for their work on Distant and Marvel's Hit-Monkey. The screenplay will be penned by The Lucas Brothers, who previously co-wrote Judas and the Black Messiah, along with Max Reisman. The film's original score will be composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul under their Ampersand production banner, the duo behind the music of La La Land and Only Murders in the Building. Caroline Fraser of HarperCollins Productions and film producer Kevin K. Vafi are also attached to the project as producers. The Oregon Trail, which originated in 1971 as an educational series developed by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium, has undergone numerous transformations over the years, with the most recent iteration released in April 2021 by Gameloft.
