Germany Introduces New Funding Initiative for Gaming Startups
The German Ministry of Culture and Media has announced a call for proposals, inviting local game developers to submit their innovative game concepts and apply for financial support through the Press Start: Games Startup Grant program. This program is open to both independent developers and newly established studios, with the goal of supporting up to 130 game developers in Germany as they set up their own studios. Successful applicants will receive a monthly grant of €2,750 for a period of 18 months, allowing them to focus on the initial development phase and drive their projects forward. In addition to financial support, recipients will also have access to educational resources and networking opportunities. According to the Ministry, the grant is intended to promote the growth and diversity of Germany's gaming industry, thereby solidifying its position as a key player in the global gaming market. The Minister's representative, Claudia Roth, emphasized that this initiative will enable gaming pioneers across Germany to benefit from the funds allocated for cultural gaming projects. The application period for the program is now open and will run until November 17, 2024.
