Fawzi Mesmar Takes Helm as Creative Director for Beyond Good & Evil 2
Veteran game designer Fawzi Mesmar has been appointed as the new creative director of Ubisoft Montpellier's Beyond Good & Evil 2 project, as announced on his LinkedIn profile. With over two decades of experience in the gaming industry, Mesmar has worked at Ubisoft for the past three years, serving as vice president of global creative and overseeing titles such as Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Star Wars Outlaws, and the 20th Anniversary Edition of Beyond Good & Evil. Prior to joining Ubisoft, Mesmar held key design positions at renowned game development studios, including DICE, King, and Gameloft. In a statement, Mesmar expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, "I've had the privilege of collaborating with the team for years and have witnessed their exceptional talent. I'm honored to build upon the foundation laid by my predecessors and look forward to crafting a truly unique gaming experience for players." Mesmar's appointment follows the passing of former creative director Emile Morel last year. Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in development for over a decade, with its initial announcement dating back to 2008. The project has faced significant challenges, including the recent departure of Ubisoft Montpellier's managing director, Guillaume Carmona, amid labor issue allegations.
