According to Deadline, Rafe Judkins has left the show, along with executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. This development comes despite the completion of multiple scripts for the first season. A source close to the matter revealed to Deadline that Amazon and Sony are seeking a new creative direction, highlighting that the existing scripts had garnered praise from both studios. Sony is said to be planning the establishment of a new writers' room. As Judkins is committed to an overall deal with Sony, he is expected to continue working on other projects. The God of War series, which was initially announced in December 2022, will be co-produced by Sony Pictures TV, MGM Amazon Studios, and PlayStation Productions, with the storyline based on the 2018 game developed by Santa Monica Studio.
