The day's business sessions will commence with Chris Dring, Head of GI, presenting 'A year to forget? Five things to know about the games industry in 2024 (and some predictions)', a data-driven analysis of the year, including layoffs, studio closures, and predictions for 2025. Additionally, editor-in-chief James Batchelor will moderate a panel discussion on 'Join the golden age of gaming adaptations: How games, TV, and Hollywood creators can build new worlds together', featuring industry experts Amanda Kruse, Etienne Bouvier, and John Gillard, who will explore the potential for collaboration between games and entertainment IP. Further sessions include 'Getting funded for game development: The backing is out there', hosted by Jon Hicks, with Gina Jackson, Gus Carley, and Nick Button-Brown discussing current funding sources and access for developers. Anna Poulter-Jones will also lead a session on 'Are you safe from lawyers? What recent cases mean for developers', examining the legal aspects of game development, including character, art, and genre laws. The final panel, moderated by Hicks, will feature Sophie Shanks and Callum Owen-Vallentin, who will share insights on achieving a successful launch beyond wishlists.
