UK Sees Significant Rise in Female Nintendo Switch Players

A recent study indicates that nearly half of all Nintendo Switch players in the United Kingdom are women, with 47% of players identifying as female, according to data from Ipsos UK's GameTrack, commissioned by Video Games Europe. This represents a near doubling of the number of female players over the past five years. The demographics of female players show that the 15 to 24 age group accounts for the largest proportion at 26%, followed by 11 to 14 year olds at 19%, and 25 to 34 year olds at 17%. The smallest proportion of female players falls within the 45 to 64 age range, making up just 8% of players. The release of this data coincides with a new television advertisement from Nintendo, featuring singer-songwriter Raye and her sisters enjoying Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together.
