French Union Calls for Strike at Don't Nod Over Proposed Layoffs and Restructuring

A labour union representing Don't Nod employees is urging workers to go on strike in protest of the company's restructuring plan, which may result in the loss of up to 69 positions. The plan was unveiled alongside the company's latest financial report, with management citing it as crucial for the company's stability in a highly competitive market. However, the Syndicat des Travailleurs et Travailleuses du Jeu Vidéo (STJV) has accused Don't Nod's management of using the economic situation as an excuse to shift the blame for the company's struggles onto its staff. The union has stated that it will not stand for employees being held responsible for the company's shortcomings and is calling on all Don't Nod workers to unite in defence of their jobs and working conditions. Although no specific strike plans have been announced, the STJV believes a large-scale movement is necessary to address the issue, drawing parallels with the ongoing strike at Ubisoft. The union claims that both it and Don't Nod workers have been expressing concerns about the company's situation for months, including warnings about the studio taking on too many projects and the subsequent decision to pause two projects and discontinue the Jusant production line.
