Global Actors' Federation Backs SAG-AFTRA in Ongoing Strike

The International Federation of Actors has announced its solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA video game strike, with members from over 60 countries unanimously voting in support. A joint resolution was proposed by performers' unions from several countries, highlighting key concerns such as AI's impact on performers' livelihoods. The FIA has committed to offering support for as long as necessary, emphasizing the need for fair wages, reasonable working conditions, and protection of performers' rights. According to FIA president Gabrielle Carteris, this global solidarity is essential in the face of multinational corporations, and the federation will stand together with SAG-AFTRA for a fair and dignified workplace. FIA general secretary Dominick Luquer added that workers' struggles are borderless, and the federation is proud to stand with SAG-AFTRA in their fight. The strike was called after nearly 18 months of negotiations with major gaming companies, and over 100 games have since signed the union's agreements, providing protections against AI and improved working conditions.
