Ubisoft France Employees Stage Three-Day Walkout Over Remote Work and Compensation

More than 700 employees of Ubisoft France have embarked on a three-day strike, protesting the company's policies on remote work and employee compensation. The strike, which began after Ubisoft's France-based staff were asked to return to the office for at least three days a week, was initiated by the French video game workers union, STJV. According to the union, this new policy was the final straw in a long-standing dispute. As reported by Le Monde, the strike was called after Ubisoft management failed to address the union's concerns. Clement Montigny of STJV stated that the company had gone back on its promises regarding remote work, which affects the employees' personal lives. When announcing the new policy, Ubisoft had claimed that it would enhance creativity and teamwork while still considering individual circumstances. The company's stock prices plummeted following the release of Star Wars Outlaws, with a decline of over 10% in two days. By September, Ubisoft's shares had dropped by 40% since the beginning of the year, reaching their lowest value in a decade.
