Riot Games Announces Restructuring of 32 League of Legends Positions

Riot Games has recently confirmed that it is eliminating certain positions within its League of Legends team. In a statement, the company revealed that 27 members of the League team and five from the publishing side have been let go. According to Riot co-founder Marc Merrill, this move is not a cost-cutting measure, but rather an effort to ensure the team has the necessary expertise to maintain the game's quality for years to come. Merrill emphasized that the decision is focused on optimizing team effectiveness, rather than reducing headcount. The company has expressed confidence in its leadership and has pledged to support affected employees with a comprehensive severance package, including at least six months of pay, an annual bonus, job placement assistance, and health coverage. Earlier this year, Riot had laid off 11% of its workforce, which accounted for 530 employees.
