Kokku Reduces Workforce by Seven in Portugal Office
Kokku, a co-development studio, has undergone a restructuring process at its Portugal office, resulting in the departure of seven employees. This move follows a comprehensive operational review aimed at aligning the studio with the company's strategic objectives and promoting sustainable growth. According to a company spokesperson, the review led to a reevaluation of the studio's operational needs, resulting in adjustments to optimize resources and ensure long-term viability. Unfortunately, this process involved a realignment of job roles, leading to the layoffs. The decision was made after careful consideration to align the studio with the company's global strategy. To maintain transparency, the leadership held a company-wide meeting, including a Q&A session, to address any questions and provide clarity. The spokesperson emphasized that the Portugal studio continues to operate as usual, and these changes do not impact the Brazilian studios. Kokku is known for its work on notable titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Sniper Ghost Warrior. The company was acquired by OV Entertainment Group earlier this year, with plans to unite Latin American games firms under the newly founded company.
