Tequila Works Reduces Staff and Cancels Unreleased Game Project
The Spanish video game development company Tequila Works has become the latest to experience layoffs, resulting in the termination of an unspecified number of employees following the cancellation of one of its games. According to a post on LinkedIn, which was discovered by TechRaptor, the studio had been working on an unreleased game, but due to undisclosed reasons, it was forced to discontinue the project. The company stated, "This difficult decision requires us to restructure the studio and concentrate our efforts on the development of a single game, which will affect a limited number of positions within the studio. "During this challenging time, our primary concern is to provide assistance and guidance to those impacted." Established in 2009, Tequila Works is renowned for its critically acclaimed independent games, such as Rime, and has also published titles like The Sexy Brutale, developed by the UK-based indie game studio Cavalier Game Studios. The company's most recent project was Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story, a spin-off of Riot Games' extremely popular multiplayer online battle arena game, published under the Riot Forge label. However, this label was shut down in January after Riot experienced its own layoffs, resulting in the loss of 530 jobs.
