Epic Targets Up to 50 Third-Party Titles and Free Game Initiative on Mobile by 2025

New details have emerged regarding Epic's mobile gaming store strategy, including plans to feature up to 50 third-party titles and launch a free game program by the end of the year. According to information shared by Epic Games Store manager Steve Allison at Unreal Fest 2024, the company anticipates releasing between 10 and 50 titles on the mobile store during the holiday season, with Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition being the first confirmed third-party game. A free game program is set to launch in the fourth quarter, mirroring the PC version of the Epic Games Store, which offers players free games to drive marketplace adoption. Epic is also developing self-publishing tools, slated for release in the first half of 2025, as well as social features like in-game chat and cross-platform play. Once these elements are in place, the company is poised for significant growth. Additionally, Epic has announced a reduced royalty rate for Unreal Engine games that launch on the Epic Games Store, currently applicable to PC, Mac, and Android, with plans to extend this to iOS in the future.
