Esports Wales Secures Funding of Up to £125,000

Esports Wales has been granted a significant sum of up to £125,000 from the Creative Skills Fund. As one of the 17 recipients, the governing body for Esports in Wales plans to allocate the funds towards the expansion of its academy program, aiming to cover the entire country. Additionally, the funding will support the introduction of taster sessions, networking events, and career development opportunities. Established in 2022, the Creative Skills Fund has entered its second phase, encompassing various sectors such as video games, film, television, music, animation, and immersive technology. According to Jack Sargeant, Wales Minister for Creative Industries, "the creative industries are vital to Wales, not only as a source of employment but also as an integral part of our cultural identity and well-being." The minister emphasized the importance of fostering a creative sector that is representative, provides equal opportunities, and attracts talent from diverse backgrounds. This recent funding follows an earlier investment of up to £50,000 that Esports Wales received from Media Cymru's Development Fund initiative.
