Future Trash Secures $5 Million in Seed Funding for UEFN Game Development

Future Trash has successfully raised $5 million in seed funding. According to reports by GamesBeat, the funding will be allocated towards the development of the company's flagship IP, FOAD, on the UEFN platform. Initially launched in 2022 as an indie game built using Unreal Engine 5, FOAD transitioned to UEFN in March 2023. The game has since garnered approximately 20 million unique players and 1 billion minutes of playtime, with popular titles including Bomb Tycoon, Respawn Zone Wars, and Boom: Boss Battle. Led by TIRTA and General Catalyst, the funding will facilitate the creation of 15 additional games over the next year and enhance the company's social media presence. "Developing a standalone game offers a clean slate, whereas user-generated content comes with some restrictions, but we believe these limitations can drive creativity," stated Kevin Marciano, CEO of Future Trash. "User-generated content platforms provide developers with the necessary infrastructure and tools, streamlining the game development process and allowing developers to focus on content creation. The primary challenge of building original IP in Fortnite lies in educating the audience about the unique world within the game," Marciano added. "Although the majority of the current player base still engages with traditional Fortnite, we are excited to be at the forefront of the platform's evolution, providing players with diverse experiences," Marciano further commented.
