Behaviour Interactive Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Red Hook Studios

Behaviour Interactive, the developer behind the popular horror game Dead by Daylight, has acquired Red Hook Studios in a deal worth an undisclosed amount. Red Hook Studios, based in Vancouver, is renowned for its work on the Darkest Dungeon series, which has achieved sales of nearly seven million copies. As part of the acquisition, all 29 team members will remain with the company, and Red Hook will continue to operate as an independent studio under the Behaviour Interactive umbrella. Behaviour Interactive's CEO and co-founder, Rémi Racine, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, "We are honoured to welcome a developer of Red Hook's calibre to our team. Our goal is to establish Behaviour as a leading publisher of horror games, with Dead by Daylight at the forefront, surrounded by a portfolio of exceptional horror titles. The acquisition of Red Hook is a significant step towards achieving this objective, with more announcements to follow." Chris Bourassa, co-founder of Red Hook, also shared his thoughts on the acquisition, saying, "We have found a like-minded partner in Behaviour Interactive. Both studios share a passion for creating outstanding horror games, and we are excited about the opportunities that this partnership will bring. With Behaviour's support, we will be able to focus on realizing our vision for Red Hook's future and transforming Darkest Dungeon into a leading title in the dark fantasy genre." This acquisition marks Behaviour Interactive's fourth in two years, following the purchases of SockMonkey Studios, Codeglue, and Fly Studio. The company also established a new UK studio last year, staffed by former AntiMatter Games employees. The announcement comes after Behaviour Interactive cancelled Project T, a spin-off of Dead by Daylight, and subsequently shut down Midwinter Entertainment, the project's developer, citing a "diligent risk assessment" as the reason for the decision.
