Don't Nod Halts Two Projects Amid Disappointing Sales of Jusant and Banishers
Don't Nod has released its financial report for the first half of 2024, revealing that its latest games, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and Jusant, fell short of expectations. The company's total operational revenue decreased by 11% compared to the same period last year, dropping from €16.5 million to €14.6 million. Development revenues declined to €2 million due to the completion of Banishers, while capitalised production decreased to €1.1 million following the temporary suspension of two production lines. Despite this, sales increased to €1.2 million, driven by the company's back catalogue, including Vampyr and the Life is Strange series. In response to the underperformance, Don't Nod will write down €24 million in assets related to Jusant and Banishers. The company has also paused two projects in the design phase, incurring a €7.6 million write-down, to focus on titles with higher potential. Don't Nod will prioritize upcoming IPs, such as Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, set to launch in February and March 2025. The company has two in-house projects scheduled for release before 2027 and two external production projects due next year. According to Don't Nod CEO and chairman Oskar Guilbert, 'We are clearly disappointed by our recent performance in a highly competitive market. Despite positive critical reception, Jusant and Banishers did not achieve the desired commercial results, leading us to consider all possible options for our future strategy.'
