Skybox Labs, a NetEase Subsidiary, Announces Staff Reduction of 25 Employees
Skybox Labs, a Canadian game development studio, has undergone a restructuring process, resulting in the layoff of 25 staff members. In a statement released on LinkedIn, the studio expressed that it has not been immune to the industry-wide challenges that have affected numerous companies. A total of 25 employees have been impacted by the decision. The studio has assured that it will provide comprehensive support to the affected employees, including severance packages, extended benefits, career transition services, and access to additional resources. The statement also conveyed the studio's gratitude to the departing employees for their contributions to the development of notable games such as Halo Infinite, Minecraft, and Fallout 76. The layoffs come after NetEase acquired Skybox Labs in 2022. Founded in 2011, the studio has established itself as a co-developer of several high-profile titles.
