Ubisoft Introduces New Hybrid Work Policy Requiring Minimum Office Presence
According to internal sources, Ubisoft is implementing a revised hybrid work model, mandating employees to work from the office for at least three days a week. This shift follows the company's four-year adoption of flexible work arrangements, with approximately a third of its offices already operating under a three-day in-office schedule. The new policy aims to establish a unified global standard. Ubisoft believes this change will foster increased creativity and teamwork while considering individual circumstances. The gaming industry has been adjusting its approach to hybrid and remote work, seeking to improve efficiency and work culture. Recent examples include Techland's transition to in-office or remote roles and Activision Blizzard's decision to end hybrid work for QA employees. A survey of participants in the UK 2024 Best Places To Work Awards revealed that 78% of companies adopt a hybrid model, requiring staff to be in the office two to three days a week, while 18% are fully remote and 4% are fully in-office. However, changes to in-office requirements can pose challenges for employees who have adapted their personal lives to flexible work arrangements.
