Midnight Society Impacted by Staff Reductions

Midnight Society, a game development studio, has undergone significant workforce reductions. According to reports from PC Gamer, the studio attributed these layoffs to unforeseen challenges it faced in recent months. The studio has assured that development of its upcoming game, Deadrop, scheduled for release in 2025, will continue uninterrupted. In a statement, the studio explained, "To adapt to the changing circumstances and ensure the long-term viability of Midnight Society, Deadrop, and our commitment to delivering innovative gaming experiences, we have made the difficult decision to restructure our operations, which regrettably includes a substantial reduction in our workforce." "The contributions of those affected by this decision have been invaluable, and we express our gratitude for their exceptional work. We will support them and wish them all the best. Although these measures are challenging, they are intended to fortify our foundation and refocus our efforts on our core objectives." In June, Midnight Society announced its decision to part ways with co-founder and streamer Guy "Dr Disrespect" Beahm, following allegations related to his Twitch ban in 2020. Beahm later addressed the allegations, confirming that the reason for the ban was due to messaging a minor in 2017. The studio stated, "We initially presumed his innocence and engaged with the parties involved. However, to uphold our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we were compelled to take action. Consequently, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm, effective immediately."
