Lost Boys Interactive Announces Significant Staff Reduction

In a recent development, Lost Boys Interactive has confirmed that 139 employees will be let go due to shifting market conditions within the gaming industry. As reported on September 10, 2024, a WARN notice from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development disclosed the extent of the layoffs, which affect staff members from 28 US states. The affected employees will receive two months' worth of regular wages following the termination of their employment. Initially, on September 9, 2024, the Wisconsin-based studio, owned by Embracer, announced the layoffs without specifying the number of employees impacted. The company cited the need to adapt to changing market conditions and reassess operations to align with the evolving needs of its business and partners. CEO Shaun Nivens stated that this decision was made after exploring all other options and assured that the studio is committed to supporting the laid-off staff. The current projects remain unaffected, and the studio continues to seek additional development opportunities. This move follows a previous round of layoffs in January, with the exact number of affected staff unreported. Lost Boys Interactive is known for its work on Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and was acquired by Gearbox in 2022, after Gearbox itself was acquired by Embracer in the previous year.
