Konami's Baseball Game Remains Atop Japan Charts for Second Month

For the second consecutive month, Konami's Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025 has held the top position on Japan's gaming charts, with an additional 76,000 copies sold on Switch and PS4 in August. In total, the game has sold 336,000 units in its first six weeks, surpassing its predecessor's sales of 259,000 units during the same period. The rest of the top 10 list is dominated by Nintendo titles, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which jumped to the second spot with 50,000 copies sold in August. Nintendo Switch Sports also saw a significant rise to third place after the introduction of basketball to the game. Bandai Namco's new title, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Chronicles, debuted at eighth place with 23,000 copies sold on Switch. In terms of market share, Nintendo leads with 40.9% at ¥2.3 billion, followed by Konami at 14%. The Switch remains the best-selling console, accounting for 88.1% of the market share with 883,789 boxed games sold, and also topped the hardware sales with 228,000 units sold across its models.
