Timbre Games Revitalized as Self-Sufficient Studio
Three months after being shut down by Sumo Group, Timbre Games has resumed operations as an independent entity. According to a LinkedIn post by CEO Joe Nickolls, Sumo Digital permitted the team to retain the Timbre brand and facilitated a smooth transition to independence, with business development support provided by Studio Capital Management. Further details regarding the studio's leadership and future plans are anticipated in the coming months. Following the June layoffs that resulted in the redundancy of 15% of Sumo Group's workforce, including the closure of Timbre, the studio is now moving forward. Initially established in 2021 as part of Pipework Studios, which Sumo acquired for $100 million in September 2020, Timbre Games is headquartered in Vancouver and previously employed over 100 staff members.
