Riot Games Updates Regional Pricing for Virtual Currency Across Its Live Titles
Riot Games has announced adjustments to the regional pricing of its virtual currency, resulting in significant increases for some countries. The changes aim to achieve better price balance between regions and prevent third-party exploitation. Starting September 18, all five of its live games, including League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, Valorant, and League of Legends: Wild Rift, will be affected. Pricing in the US will remain unchanged, while Ukraine will see increases ranging from 64% to 74% across all games. The Philippines and Vietnam will experience increases of 40% and 41%, respectively, for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. Colombia will see a 16% decrease in Legends of Runeterra pricing. According to the company, these changes are necessary to combat manipulation and ensure fairness. Riot Games acknowledges the difficulty these changes may pose for players in affected regions but hopes that by balancing currency values, exploitation opportunities will decrease.
