Zynga Abandons Web3 Venture Sugartown
Zynga has withdrawn from its web3 project, Sugartown, and transferred ownership to D20, a new entity. The acquisition was announced by D20 through social media, stating that it had acquired all products and assets related to Sugartown from Zynga. D20 was co-founded by Matt Wolf, previously VP of web3 gaming at Zynga, and Tommy Ngo, former general manager for web3 at Zynga. According to a staff member, D20 is comprised entirely of former members of Zynga's web3 team. Zynga initially announced Sugartown in 2023 as its first title incorporating NFTs, following the appointment of Wolf in 2021, before being acquired by Take Two in January 2022. Further information regarding Zynga's decision to divest from Sugartown has been requested.
