Argonaut Games Revives Publishing Arm After 20-Year Absence

Following a two-decade hiatus, Argonaut Games has reemerged as a boutique publisher, kicking off its revival with a remastered version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos for consoles and PC. Initially released in 1997, this classic game marks the beginning of a series of re-releases and new titles, showcasing both retro and modern gaming experiences. Established in 1982 by Jez San, Argonaut is renowned for its contributions to the Starglider series and the development of Star Fox for the SNES in 1993. After a round of layoffs led to its closure in 2004, the studio's legacy is now being revived. "The return of Argonaut Games after a twenty-year break is a thrilling moment for me," San expressed. "Our mission has always been to innovate and push the boundaries of gaming. I'm eager to see how the newly relaunched Argonaut Games will build upon this heritage, starting with the remastered Croc: Legend of the Gobbos." Gary Sheinwald, Argonaut's co-CEO, shared his thoughts: "Having worked closely with Jez on the design and production of Starglider, our first major success in 1986, taking the helm to relaunch Argonaut Games nearly four decades later is a full-circle moment for me."
